Server Installation Step of Informatica 8.6.0 on Window 7- Part-1

Pre-Requisites

• Window XP (Recommended).
• Window 7 (Installation is possible)
• Vista (will not support most of the times) Vista users can able to install this in VM ware(Virtual Machine) .
• At least one database (ex:Oracle,Sql Server,Teradata, etc..).
• 2 GB Ram.
• System should support Java.

 

Note:

Officially Informatica PowerCenter version 8.6 is not supported by Microsoft Windows 7 Operating System. I have successfully installed Informatica PowerCenter 8.6 on windows 7 with setting compatibility of install.exe to Windows XP SP3.

 

Before installing the Informatica create one database.

Create user in Oracle which is dedicated for Informatica Repository.

Login with Admin User

Create user and give the admin privileges.

CREATE USER Informatica IDENTIFIED BY informatica;

GRANT DBA TO Informatica:

Solution:- Add server bin directory to PATH variable of your computer.

If installation directory is C:\Informatica\PowerCenter8.6.0

path of bin directory will be C:\Informatica\PowerCenter8.6.0\server\bin

You need to add this value in PATH variable.

Installation Of Server

 

Step1:- Change compatibility of install.exe to Windows XP SP3.

Server install.exe can be found at following path:-

pc86_win32_x86\Server\Windows\Disk1\InstData\VM\install.exe

Right click on install.exe –> Troubleshoot Compatibility tab 

Select Troubleshoot program

Select  1^st option and click next

Select Window XP(Service Pack3) and click on next

Step2:- Launch install.bat by double clicking on it.

pc86_win32_x86\install.bat

Step3:- After a few moments, installation wizard will be launched. In the first screen, it will prompt you to select the language.

Step4:Click on OK

Step5:Click next

Step6:Click next

Step7:Click on Browse and select License Key

Step8:Click next and click next

Step9:Click next

Step10:Click  on Browse and select installation directory

Step11:Uncheck Enable HTTPS and click on Next
